Round Texel is the largest catamaran sailing race in the world and has existed for more than forty years.

Round Texel is what Round Texel says: a race to get around the island of Texel as quickly as possible.

You will find more beautifully explained information by the organization itself, on https://roundtexel.com/.

Unless you’re renting a helicopter, the easiest way to reach Texel is by ferry. You can arrange this through the TESO ferry service. The ferry leaves from Den Helder every 30 minutes and takes you to the island in 20 minutes. Sometimes there are queues, but on busy days more ferries are available.

On the ferry you are welcome as a pedestrian, cyclist, motorcyclist, with a car and even with your truck.

You don’t (and can’t) make reservations to take the ferry. All tickets are valid for a round trip. Getting off the island is pretty easy anyway: on your return (Texel-Den Helder) your ticket will not get checked.

For all up-to-date information and tickets, check https://www.teso.nl/nl/.

Good news: get a free boat ticket with the Early Bird action via VVV Texel. You can book here. More good news: With de early bird action you get a lot of discount.

For accessibility, check ‘How do I get to Texel?‘ Above.

Public transport on Texel:

Public transport consists of a bus line that runs at fixed times and small buses that you have to reserve, called Texelhoppers. For more information and reservations, check texelhopper.nl.

Texel is part of The Netherlands, so you can use an OV chip card or buy tickets on the bus. You can also rent a bike. Parking on Texel? Check https://texelevignet.com/.

One more thing: we will keep you informed of luggage transport options from the port on Texel and renting a bike during the festival.

WAVES does not have its own camp site, but Texel is quite popular among tourists so there are many accommodations in every category of comfort.

Camping Kogerstrand offers various campingspots on walking distance with a 50% WAVES discount! So check our speciale 50% WAVES discount offer at Camping Kogerstrand.

For more information and an overview check the website of VVV Texel for accommodations closest to Paal 17. You can find and book everything through their website: holiday homes, hotels, bed & breakfasts, bungalow parks and campsites.

Exact sports timetables will follow. We share this information first on our social media channels. We also have a kick-ass newsletter.

Click here for an overview of the (top) water sports events at WAVES 2019.

We are a multi-day festival so we have a lot of good food and drinks. The exact food & drinks line-up will follow later.

Just sharing the well known legal notices:

– You can not buy and/or drink alcohol under the age of 18.
– Above the age of 18 this is allowed (with the motto: enjoy, but drink in moderation), but please do not pass on your drink to visitors younger than 18.
– Possession or use of drugs is prohibited by law.

Violating this rules means we must unfortunately ask the person to leave the premises and the police will be notified.

Does WAVES also sound like music to your ears? That’s great, but no one needs too much (loud) music their ears. Therefore, check www.oorcheck.nl and see how to protect your hearing.

We hope that you’ll take as many beautiful pictures as possible during WAVES. With or without filter, as long as there’s a smile on everybody’s face.

You will probably do this with your smartphone. Professional photo, film and recording equipment is not allowed on WAVES. Normal cameras (without interchangeable or telephoto lens) are, of course, more than welcome. Selfie sticks are rather in the way of people and views, and are therefore also not allowed.

Oh and: pictures taken or recordings for commercial purposes are also a no-no.

WAVES is an open-air festival in the wonderful nature, beach, sun and sea breeze. However, we are still in The Netherlands, so keep an eye on weather reports via this website or our social media channels. If the weather decides not to cooperate, no worries the live stage and a part of the activities are in tents.

Every festival has house rules, so WAVES does too. These apply to the entire festival site.

You check our house rules here. Or, if you don’t feel like it, just behave in a fun and friendly manner at the festival, then you’ll be fine anyway.

We are WAVES and we are new. We’re doing everything to organize a great festival, and are very curious what you think of it.

That is why we have a (drumroll) visitor survey. This helps us to make the festival (even) better. We will send this to you after the course of the event.

Of course we hope this won’t be necessary, but to comment on or complaint about the 2019 edition: please send an e-mail to info@wavesfestival.nl. This is possible up to two weeks after the last day of the event.
